He’s known for starring in the big-screen version of one of the best romantic suspense novels, but there’s more to Ryan Gosling than a tear-jerker performance in “The Notebook”. The Canadian heartthrob has made a name for himself that extends beyond acting. Here’s proof that Ryan Gosling is a God.
1. He Breaks Up Random Fights
A few years ago some guys were squabbling in a New York street, and things were about to turn violent. Until Ryan saved the day, that is. Out of nowhere, our hero strode onto the scene and broke the fight up peacefully.
2. He Saves Damsels in Distress
Not long after his turn as a New York peacekeeper, Ryan once again stepped up and helped out a stranger. British journalist Laurie Penny let the world know how brave Ryan was when she tweeted about her experience of him saving her life. Penny had walked in front of a taxi she didn’t see coming, and Ryan pulled her to safety just in time. What a Titan guy!
3. He Stands Up for Feminism …
After his 2010 film “Blue Valentine” was given a strict NC-17 rating, due in large part to a sex scene with Michelle Williams, Ryan wasn’t happy. In a letter appealing the decision, Ryan condemned the Motion Picture Association of America, who gave the rating. He argued that “the MPAA is okay supporting scenes that portray women in scenarios of sexual torture and violence … but they are trying to force us to look away from a scene that shows a woman’s sexual presentation of self. I consider this an issue that is bigger than this film.” How much can romance readers relate to this as well?!
4. … and Pigs!
In 2013 Ryan wrote an open letter for Canada’s Globe and Mail newspaper, fighting for the rights of farm pigs. Many of these pigs live in appalling conditions, usually in tiny cages. A feminist and an animal rights activist? Ryan, stop!
5. He’s an Awesome Dad
Ryan has two daughters with partner Eva Mendes, and he tries his best to give his little ladies a semblance of a normal life. Ryan and Eva kept both pregnancies private, and they still don’t share pictures of their kids with the media. Clearly, Ryan would do anything to keep their childhoods as innocent as possible.
A brave, peacekeeping, feminist who loves animals and his family — Ryan, you’re a god in the land of Titan!
