Goodreads Opened My Eyes!

I watched a romantic movie that sparked an interest in romance that I had not had before. While I have always been an avid reader, I hadn’t read much (any?) romance. But, I quickly realized that there were so many options. It was hard for me to narrow the selection and choose the right romance novel that I would like reading.

I found Goodreads and was able to discover options that I actually enjoyed reading. The following guide provides some insight into how Goodreads was helpful to me.

Goodreads Let Me Find Books Based On Titles I Knew I Liked

Goodreads has a large selection of books in the database. I was able to create a reading portfolio of books that I had read in the past that I enjoyed. The system was then able to use that information to determine which books may be of interest to me in the romance genre. It was able to pinpoint the sub-genre and authors that would be a good fit, as well.

There was a brief bio about each book on the site so I did not have to do any research about the individual books. This saved me a lot of time and helped me determine which books to try.

Goodreads Showed What Books My Friends Enjoy

Some of my friends had profiles on Goodreads, and the system allowed me to see what books they had read and which they had enjoyed. A few of my friends have similar tastes to me, so being able to see what books they liked opened me up to new books that I had never even heard of. It also provided me with something new to discuss with them when we got together.

I Was Able to Read Reviews on Goodreads Before Committing to a Book

Goodreads has reviews for many books in the community on their site. People provide honest feedback about the books, so I could make an informed decision about which books I wanted to read. I really enjoyed being able to hear from others if the storyline was easy to follow and if the book made them feel compelled to keep reading. I wanted to choose a book that was hard for me to put down.

Goodreads Allowed me to Find a Great Priced Book

I did not want to have to spend hours a day searching for the books that I wanted to read. Goodreads had a large selection of books available for me to purchase on the site. Digital books, also called ebooks, can be very affordable or even free. There was something available for every budget imaginable.

I have made it along the way from my Goodreads. My passion for romance novels has grown! I can leave an honest review which might help others. The reviews are not filtered to only show positive ones. This allows everyone to get honest feedback. In the end, we all want to read a book that does not waste their time or money.
